If you’d prefer something slow, atmospheric, and with a sinister edge, try Icelandic producer Hekla Magnúsdóttir’s first fully formed album, entitled simply Á. As ethereal and wintry as the volcanic landscapes of the country of her birth, Hekla’s haunting voice is reminiscent of Julia Holter, whilst her eerie theremin-based compositions echo the soundtracks of Mica Levi.
